A Day out in Rothes

Explore everything neighbouring village Rothes has to offer (just 15 minutes from our B&B).

From Dufftown take the A941 to Elgin/Rothes. At the end of the village High Street turn left at the roundabout to The Glen Grant Distillery. They produce a gently elegant Speyside whisky and have an amazing Victorian garden, make sure you walk up to the end to see the best part!

At the same roundabout take the exit to Mosstodloch (B9015) to visit Speyburn Distillery, an old and traditional small distillery with lots of historic items and stories.

Alternatively, drive back towards our B&B. Right after crossing the (new) Craigellachie bridge turn left into Craigellachie and first left again to a small car park next to the playground. Walk under the road to the river Spey and enjoy the riverside and the wonderful historic Craigellachie bridge.

If you fancy a walk, drive back on the High Street and find a parking spot close to the traffic lights. At the Police Station the Dounie walk starts, a nice circular 5 km/3 mile walk along distilleries (without visitor centres), fields and wood and some amazing views.

For lunch or a coffee we can highly recommend the Station Hotel in Rothes. Make sure to check out their whisky bar as well! Also a good place for fine dining. If you prefer a more traditional Scottish pub we recommend The Highlander Inn in Craigellachie, they also feature a great whisky bar.

From Rothes/Craigellachie take the A941 back to Dufftown to return to the B&B.
