Castle, Wool, Whisky & Golf

From the clock tower in Dufftown take the A941 towards Elgin. After The Craigellachie Bridge (worthwhile to have a look at the old bridge!) turn left onto the B9102 until you reach the Knockando Woolmill after 13 miles. The Mill’s grounds and historic buildings are open on reduced hours from Monday 3 August. Access to the shop will also be available. However, the coffee shop and lavatory facilities will remain closed. Opening hours: 10:00 to 12:00, Monday to Friday.

Continue your drive on the B9102 until you reach the A95 where you turn right for the Ballindalloch Castle and Gardens (signposted from this road). The Castle is currently not open to visitors, but the garden, play garden and tea room are and are great for a walk and refreshment.

Next stop: Cragganmore Distillery. Continue your drive on the A95 until the distillery is signposted on the right. Follow this small road for app. two miles and it will lead you right up to the distillery. It’s a lovely small traditional distillery which offers tours, tastings & shop. Pre booking essential!

If whisky is not your thing you might want to play a round of golf on the Ballindalloch Golf Course, situated at the A95 between Ballindalloch and Tormore.

For a quick return to Dufftown take the A95 towards Aberlour/Keith. After Aberlour take the A941 to the right to Dufftown.

If you prefer a scenic route go back to the sharp bend on the A95 and take the B9008 to Auchbreck/Glenlivet (watch out for the old packhorse bridge on your right at Glenlivet!) where you take the B9009 back to Dufftown.
