Waves, Greens and Iodine

Lossiemouth is a lovely harbour village with great beaches and seafood at a 40 minute drive from Dufftown.

With nice weather it’s absolutely worthwhile to visit Lossiemouth West Beach. Please note the East Beach is currently not accessible due to repairs to the footbridge.

From the West Beach you can walk up to the Covesea Lighthouse (open for tours on Saturdays, pre booking essential). The lighthouse can also be reached by car.

Best place for coffee/lunch in Lossiemouth: Harbour Lights (open until 4pm, pre booking required).

Lossiemouth offers the Moray Golf Course. The old course is considered to be one of the finest links courses in Scotland. A classic links designed by Old Tom Morris with deep revetted bunkers, undulating gorse lined fairways and smooth fast greens. It is a superb test of golf with seven par fours over 400 yards.

Beer lovers are welcome at the Windswept Brewery. The shop is closed but the Beer Garden is open and limited tours available (1 household only). Pre booking required.

A visit to Lossiemouth can be easily combined with a visit to nearby Elgin (10 minute drive) when not pursuing all mentioned activities, for example to have an evening meal on the way back to Dufftown.
